Jouyssance honors composer Josquin des Prez on the 500th anniversary of his death. His best known mass, Missa Pange lingua, will form the centerpiece of a program that will also include motets, chansons and even an homage to a cricket!

Jouyssance is back with in-person performances in Westwood and South Pasadena featuring music of hope and joy in mid-winter. After our annual Twelfth Night concerts were postponed, we are thrilled to be able to welcome live audiences for some of our favorite Medieval and Renaissance music of any season. With the Robert Fayrfax Magnificat O bone Jesu as its cornerstone, the program will feature works by Lasso, Morales, Weelkes, Mouton, Praetorius, and others, plus selections from the Montpellier Codex and the Libre Vermeil.

All Students receive free admission with I.D.
Masks required and all attendees must provide proof of COVID 19 vaccination. Advance ticket purchase is recommended, and will be fully refundable in the event of schedule changes due to COVID 19 precautions.

Jouyssance joins forces with guest instrumentalists to present some of the most sumptuous and innovative music of the Renaissance and early Baroque. Born out of the bustling economy, printing boom, and ambitions of the ruling families of the port city, the music of Venice in the 16th and 17th centuries will come to life in 21st century Southern California under the baton of Artistic Director Nicole Baker. The program will include selections by Monteverdi, Giovanni and Andrea Gabrieli, Rore, Willaert, and others who helped create the most opulent musical center of the time.
