Noël! Join us this holiday season on a fanciful Twelfth Night voyage through Mediæval and Renaissance France. Director Nicole Baker and assistant director Colleen Kennedy will enchant us with Christmas carols, dances, and sacred polyphony ranging from the 12th - 17th Centuries. Featured composers include Brumel, Compère, Dufay, Arbeau, Goudimel, and lesser-knowns Bouzignac and Waelrant. Jouyssance
Favorites Under the direction of Nicole Baker, Jouyssance Early Music Ensemble will present "Jouyssance Favorites" comprising pieces chosen by Ensemble members. Included are portions of the Mass of Tournai (arranged by Southern California composer, John Biggs) and Dufay's Missa Se La Face Ay Pale, the complete Palestrina Sicut Cervus, Gibbons' O Clap Your Hands, Ave Maria by Parsons and polychoral works by Gabrieli and Guerrero. Other featured composers are Machaut, Josquin, Monteverdi, Gesualdo and that old standby, Anonymous. Josquin
and Friends Josquin des Prez and his generation set the standards for Renaissance polyphony. Jouyssance explored some of Josquin's most beloved sacred music, as well as sampled his widely varied secular works. Music by Brumel, Isaac and de la Rue also were featured.
