The Italian court of Mantua, run by the Gonzaga dynasty, employed a stellar roster of musicians during the 16th century, such as Giaches de Wert, Salamone Rossi, Giovanni Gastoldi, and Claudio Monteverdi. Jouyssance will present a wide variety of music by these composers, including madrigals, Hebrew “motets,” and the Jouyssance favorite, Missa Hercules Dux Ferrariae by Jacquet da Mantua.
